Former Diablo and StarCraft Devs Form New Studio To Develop Their Own RTS Game

Ex-StarCraft and Diablo developers have joined hands to start working on their own
RTS game. Their efforts have led to the development of Uncapped Games studio, which
is supported by the Chinese tech group giant, Tencent under the subsidiary Lightspeed
and Quantum Studio.

David Kim, game designer of Uncapped Games has lent his touch to three of the chapters
of Starcraft 2 and Diablo 4. On the other hand, head producer Jason Hughes is getting
credits on Diablo 3 and 4. Chausen Jha Hang, who was previously a programmer on
Starcraft 2 is also now working for Uncapped Games as their lead engineer.

Right now, Uncapped Games studio is utilizing its resources to create the next big RTS
games for PC. The project is led by Kim, which means Uncapped Games has everything
they need. A StarCraft veteran informed GamesIndustry.biz that a brand new RTS video
game is going to arrive soon.

Kim said that it was his dream to try his luck at another big RTS game for a really long
time. It’s been almost a decade that he has been wanting to work on his own RTS game.
He also talked about the days when he reached out to various companies and people to
make his dream come true.

Kim said that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. He also added that to
develop the next best PC RTS game, they would need the best company. They would
need the right group of people in the development team. Luckily, they have finally made
it happen and are now working on their next great RTS game.

There’s no doubt that there is a tough competition between Uncapped Games and the
RTS sector. Last year in October, a group of Blizzard veterans established the Frost
Giant Studios and they are also trying to get the next hit RTS.

Tim Campbell, the head campaign designer for Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne is known
to lead the Frost Giant Studios. They also have Tim Morten, the production director on
StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void along with Campbell in the lead.

As of now, there is nothing known about Frost Giant Studios RTS. But Campbell
informed that the developer is not ready to run the genre.

Uncapped Games is a new game studio. It is one of the latest additions in the huge group
of game studios that is financially supported by Tencent. For those uninitiated, Tencent
is currently the world’s largest publisher of video games.

Last year, PC Gamer published a helpful guide to every video game organisation that is
supported by Tencent. This is only if you are interested in this kind of stuff.

Uncapped Games is gearing up to get the next great RTS. With financial backing from
Tencent and an excellent team of developers, it won’t be difficult for them to achieve
their goals. The rise of Uncapped Games has made the competition tougher.
