Game Director Dinga Bakaba says that Deathloop wouldn’t have been possible on older
consoles.
According to Bakaba, the new PlayStation 5 is like a breath of fresh air in the world of
gaming. He said this in his recent interview with PLAY Magazine.
For those uninitiated, Deathloop is developed on a four-part map. This allows you to
explore the different parts at different times of the day. It gives you the chance to
experience different opportunities and areas. This is what the developer Arkane is
famous for. However, it requires great detailing which can ultimately weigh down the
game.
According to sources, Deathloop is set to launch exclusively on PC and PlayStation 5.
Bakaba has said that they can achieve the required level of ambition without bothering
about common development issues.
He also added, that it is always a sad feeling when you reach the end of a project and
you are required to optimize things. He says that now you have to divide your map into
two halves and justify why it is divided into two parts. He also mentions that they
wouldn’t be able to achieve the level of ambition of this game without moving to the
next-generation consoles. He seems to be extremely happy with the launch of the new
PS5.
Sebastien Mitton, Art director agreed to Bakaba’s statements and explained that
working with PlayStation 5 hardware helps them to push for environments that are
bigger than Dishonored 2. Just so you know Dishonored 2 is probably the biggest
masterwork by Arkane. It is a top-shelf immersive sim and sets a pretty high bar to
clear. This is especially true for a game that is required to provide four different
versions for each environment.
We had the chance to talk to Bakaba for a Deathloop preview in May. We were
thoroughly impressed with the game as it looks much more than Dishonored with even
more assassins and guns.
During that time Bakaba said that they wanted to challenge themselves. They wanted to
come up with something new and unique. He also added that it is a rare occasion for
them to work on something so different in the AAA space. He even said that they will
never forget a special project like Deathloop. They have put in their heart and soul to
make it the best game for players.
As far as, the release date of Deathloop is concerned, the game is set to release on
September 14, 2021. Although the game is currently under the Microsoft umbrella, it
will still release first on PS5. Besides that, the game will also be launched on PC.
The makers of Deathloop are currently focusing on releasing the game on PS5. For now,
they are skipping out on the Xbox consoles. As you may already know Deathloop is a
next-gen game designed for the next-gen hardware. So there is a very slim chance that
the game will be released on PS4 or any of the older Xbox consoles.
